Farm Manager Job Vacancy in Ndaragua Kenya(kshs 32k-50K)

  Our client, a reputable company in the hay production business with over 12,000 membership from small scale farmers and more than a 1,000 acres of plantation field is looking to fill the position of a Farm Manager who will report to The Executive Board.

Salary: Ksh. 32,000 – 50,000

Job Purpose / Summary:

The Farm Manager shall be responsible for all recruiting and supervising all staff in the Farm, supervising planting, harvesting, storage and all other aspects of the Farm’s production to ensure high quality products.
 
Duties and Responsibilities:


  •     Direct and coordinate workers and farm activities, such as planting, irrigation, chemical application, harvesting, grading, payroll, and recordkeeping.
  •     Market the produce and confer with customers and arrange for sale of the produce.
  •     Record information such as production, farm management practices, stock and prepare and submit financial and operational reports to the Executive Board.
  •     Purchases machinery, equipment, and supplies, such as tractors, seeds, fertilizer, and chemicals in liaison with the Management Committee.
  •     Evaluate financial statements, make budget projections and prepare and implementing annual budgets for the Farm’s farming programme
  •     Understand, interpret and analyse Financial Accounts and Management Accounts and make presentation to the Executive Board.
  •     Develop methods to control weeds and pests to keep the crops disease-free.
  •     Conduct research on current trends, challenges, solutions and develop innovative farming techniques
  •     Supervising and providing technical assistance to farm workers
  •     Advising management on better and improved farming techniques and new innovations
  •     Act as cheque signatory for and authorize expenditure up to limits as agreed by the management.
  •     Overseeing the farm’s equipment and tools and ensuring their best up keep
  •     Identifying staff development and training needs and ensure that training is obtained.
  •     Ensure that farm activities comply with government regulations and other regulatory bodies in the industry
  •     Understanding the implications of the weather and making contingency plans
  •     Demonstrate clear integrity and a sense of ethics and responsibility to the farm and its employees on a daily basis, serving as a model for others
  •     Protect organization's value by keeping information confidential

Required Qualifications

  •     BSc. Animal Nutrition
  •     Minimum 5 years farm management work experience

Keringet KCSEED Agr Dev, Business Dev, Energy Dev, WASH, M&E, Accounts, and Project Leader Jobs in Kenya

 Keringet Community Social Economic & Environmental Development (KCSEED) is a community based development foundation trust interested in enhancing the social economic and environmental development of the people of Keringet Location in Kuresoi district Nakuru County.

In order to progress this endeavor, the Foundation Trust wishes to recruit competent technical implementation team that will consists of the following job categories:

Agricultural Development Officer 

(1 position)

    Reporting to the KCSEED Project Steering Committee, the successful person will provide technical support needed for enhancement of household food security and nutrition and productivity of the key agricultural enterprises including but not limited to Milk and Irish potatoes.
    The candidate should be hands-on practitioner and must be in possession of at least a diploma in agricultural extension with not less than three years experience in the relevant field.
    He or she must be fluent in both spoken and written English and Kiswahili a good verbal and written communicator and, a team player.
    Computer literacy is mandatory.

Business and Enterprise Development Officer

(1 position)

    Reporting to the KCSEED Project Steering Committee, the successful person should have broad experience in entrepreneurship and enterprise development and marketing and, should possess at least a diploma in entrepreneurial development with not less than three years experience in the relevant field.
    He or she must be fluent in both spoken and written English and Kiswahili, a good verbal and written communicator and, a team player.
    Computer literacy is mandatory.

Energy & Environmental Development Officer
(1 position)

    Reporting to the KCSEED Project Steering Committee, the successful person should have broad hands-on experience in environmental protection & conservation and green energy activities.
    The successful candidate should be in possession of diploma with not less than three years experience in the relevant field.
    He or she must be fluent in both spoken and written English and Kiswahili, a good verbal and written communicator and, a team player.
    Computer literacy is mandatory.

Water & Sanitation Development Officer

(1 position)

    Reporting to the KCSEED Project Steering Committee, the successful person should have broad hands-on experience in water and sanitation activities.
    The candidate should be in possession of diploma in water engineering with not less than three years experience in the relevant field.
    The candidate must be fluent in both spoken and written English and Kiswahili, a good verbal and written communicator and, a team player.
    Computer literacy is mandatory.

Monitoring & Evaluation Officer (1 position)

    Reporting to the KCSEED Project Steering Committee, the M&E officer will provide support in documentation and tracking of development indicators and should posses at least diploma in project management.
    The candidate should be knowledgeable in carrying out baseline studies, development of SMART objectives, traceable indicators and benchmarking.
    He or she must be fluent in both spoken and written English and Kiswahili and, a good verbal and written communicator and, a team player.
    Computer literacy is mandatory.

Accounts Officer

(1 position)

Reporting to the KCSEED Project Steering Committee, the accountant will keep financial records and provide update and timely financial data and information and must be in possession of CPA 111 with a minimum of three years working experience in accounting work with a reputable organization.

He or she must be fluent in both spoken and written English and Kiswahili and, a good verbal and written communicator and, a team player. Computer literacy is mandatory.

Project Team Leader
 
(1 position)

    Reporting to the KCSEED Project steering committee, the project team leader will provide support to overall management and coordination of the Keringet community social economic and environmental development program and should be in possession of a degree in business administration from a recognized institution with 3 years experience.
    Knowledge of community development and participatory processes will be an added advantage.
    He or she must be fluent in both spoken and written English and Kiswahili and, a good verbal and written communicator and, a team player. Computer literacy is mandatory.

FARM MANAGER-2 POSITIONS
Ref : FM / 6/ 2011

The Primary Duties of this role will
include ;
* Overall farm management and
administration
* Budgeting and expenditure control .
* Making and forwarding all reports
concerning the farm e. g. Monthly
reports , weekly reports , accident
reports etc.
* Training, demonstrating and guiding
on various farm operations .
* Ensuring security accountability and
good custody of company assets,
information and resources.
* Carrying out Trials at the farm level.
* Dealing with staff Retention &
welfare .
* Maintaining good public relations
about the farm

QUALIFICATIONS
* Must have a Degree in horticulture
or related field from a recognized
institution.
* Must possess certificates in F .A .C . T. S
& B .A .S .I. S
* At least 5 years experience in a
similar position managing a high
labour intensive farm for growing
among others things runner beans,
mangetout, sugar snaps , tender stems
broccoli, chilies and baby corn for
export.
* Must have an understanding of the
stringent European market , standards
and related compliances in relation to
food safety .
* Must possess strong attitude
towards new product development,
interpersonal skills and people
management.
* Must be Computer literate

SECURITY OFFICER-1 POSITION

The primary duties of this role will
include ;
* Enforcing procedural rules and
regulations.
* Ensuring the personal safety of staff,
visitors, and property .
* Operating and monitoring security
control panels alarms, and related
security equipment to provide area
and visitor surveillance .
* Responding to and investigating
situations reported to Control Rooms .
With relevant authorities investigates
suspicious activities or security
violations that require intervention.
* Reporting security and general
maintenance problems to the proper
authorities.
* Supervise the operations of the
contracted Security service provider
and conducting personal checks on
staff.
* Attending court hearings on security
related cases and traffic offences
involving our motor vehicles
* Ensuring inspection compliance to
all our company commercial vehicles
and tractors
* Developing and implementing
preventive measures against theft ,
fraud , fire and malicious destruction
within the company and farms.

QUALIFICATIONS
* Minimum of O level and above
* Must have qualifications in relevant
training in criminal investigation or
related field.
* Must be ex member of one of the
disciplined/ armed forces of Kenya
* Minimum of 5 years experience in a
similar position .
* Must be computer literate
* Show current , expected salary and
possess a current certificate of good
conduct.
