ACCOUNTS ASSISTANT OIL COMPANY JOB IN KENYA

ACCOUNTS ASSISTANT – OIL AND
GAS (KENYA)
Our client, an international player in
the Oil and Gas Industry, is looking
to improve its business and take it to
a new level. To achieve this, they
require the services of an Accounts
Assistant. Reporting to the Senior
Accountant, the main responsibility of
the successful candidate is to provide
accounting assistance and order,
ensure regular
processing and payment of invoices
for services and materials needed in
preparatory project work.
Responsibilities
•Processing of KES and USD invoices
for payment in compliance with the
laid
down procedures
•Timely posting of bank transactions,
invoices, petty cash and staff
expenses
•Ensure that expenditure adheres to
the procurement policy
•Ensure invoices are fully supported
by PO’s and appropriately matched in
the
procurement system and allocation of
payments to invoices done on a
timely
basis
•Maintaining of a detailed schedule
showing all the invoices for which a
claim for
VAT remission is appropriate,
submitting the claim to the Ministry of
Energy on
a monthly basis and following up as
appropriate
•Maintaining detailed schedule of
withholding tax deduction and
ensuring that
these are remitted to KRA on due
dates. Obtain certificates from KRA to
evidence payments on a timely basis
and submit the same to suppliers
•Processing of staff expenses and
claims
•Monthly reconciliation of General
and Admin Bank accounts, petty cash
and
General Ledger account balances
•Maintain Kenya office and field fixed
assets register
•Filing and maintaining corporate
documentation up to date
•Any other duties as may be assigned
by the Senior Accountant or Country
Manager

QUALIFICATIONS
The ideal candidate needs to
possess:
• A bachelors degree in commerce or
business studies from a recognized
university
• Certified Public Accountant (CPA –
K)
• 3 Years practical experience in
accounting environment – preferably
in the oil sector or busy
services sector
• Have practical exposure to handling
international transactions involving
forex, project
costing and cost monitoring,
compliance, banking and
reconciliations

The person will also be expected
to possess the following skills:
• Good interpersonal and
communication skills
• Good analytical skills
•Microsoft office proficiency in Excel,
Word and PowerPoint
